From Hurghada, you can take an exciting day trip to Luxor to experience the impressive relics of ancient Egypt. It’s a great opportunity to immerse yourself in history!

  • The Valley of the Kings
  • The Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut
  • The impressive Karnak Temple

Step-by-Step Program

1

Hotel Pick-up (Approx. 5:00 a.m.)

You will be picked up by our driver early in the morning. He will take you to Luxor in a comfortable, air-conditioned minibus. The journey takes approximately three and a half hours. Our German-speaking tour guide will then meet you in Luxor.

2

Visit to the Karnak Temple

The Karnak Temples are the largest temple complex in Egypt, located directly on the eastern bank of the Nile. The oldest parts date back to the 12th Dynasty. Over the centuries, it was expanded until the Roman Imperial period. A particularly striking feature is the Temple of Amun-Re, with its ten pylons and the Great Hypostyle Hall.

3

Nile cruise by motorboat

After exploring Karnak Temple, we have the opportunity to take a beautiful 45-minute boat ride on the Nile. During this trip, we can enjoy the impressive scenery along the river and experience the peaceful atmosphere.

4

Visit to the Colossi of Memnon & Lunch

We continue to the impressive Colossi of Memnon. These two gigantic statues date back to the 14th century BC and stand side by side in the Nile Valley. They once stood in front of the entrance to the temple of Pharaoh Amenhotep III.

Afterwards, we will take a break in a cozy inn where we can enjoy a delicious lunch.

5

Visit to the Valley of the Kings

The Valley of the Kings is one of the most fascinating and mysterious sites in ancient Egypt and is considered the most famous burial site of the pharaohs. Instead of pyramids, rock tombs were hewn into the walls, in which the mummies of the pharaohs rested along with magnificent grave goods, gold jewelry, and colorful decorations.

6

Visit to Hatshepsut Temple

The Hatshepsut Temple is carved into the limestone cliffs in the valley of Deir el-Bahari. The temple was designed by the architect Sennenmut and is notable for its terraced architecture. The outer area is divided into three terraces, and part of the temple was carved directly into the rock. The sanctuary is a small room that leads to two other small halls dedicated to offerings and cult objects.

Curious information about the Hatshepsut Temple:

  • It is considered one of the first temples built in a terraced form.
  • After Hatshepsut’s death, her successor Thutmose III tried to erase her memory by destroying many depictions.
  • The Anubis Chapel contains some of the best-preserved wall paintings in ancient Egypt.
  • The temple is dedicated to the goddess Hathor, who represents love, joy, and motherhood.
  • It was rediscovered in the 19th century by an expedition led by Napoleon Bonaparte.
7

Return to the hotel (Approx. 4:00 PM)
